Suzanne Edwards Alford was born in
Vancouver, Canada and raised in the small farm town of Pemberton
north of Whistler Mountain in British Columbia. She wrote her
first song on the piano, at the tender age of 8 years old, and
hasn’t stopped since. The gift of music came from her mother '
Rose' who played guitar and piano and sang to Suzanne since
before she was born, or as Suzanne likes to say, when asked how
long she has been singing, she answers "since I was in the
Music Womb". Her major musical influences include
Crystal Gayle, Carole King, Elton John, Charlie Rich and Ronnie
Milsap.
Suzanne made her home In Los Angeles and
spent much of her time touring the United States with the likes
of Gary Puckett, the Grass Roots, The Association and The
Turtles as a singer and keyboard player. Nowadays she spends a
generous amount of time between Los Angeles and Nashville
working with other talented co-writers.
In her own words, Suzanne can be quoted as
saying, “It’s not just about me, it’s about everyone else
and how they can benefit too!” Suzanne has a style of country
music that brings with it warmth, tradition and amazing energy
that audiences are thrilled by.
She likes to call her kind of country music
“SuzannesCountry” and everybody’s invited to become a
member of “SuzannesCountry”.
Her voice can be
heard on recordings with Diane Reeves and Jill Collucci as well
as live performances produced by Diane Louie and Hiroshima and
various other notables in the music industry. Her work can also
be heard on various environmental jingles and session work.
She has to her
credit, given of her time and talents to numerous Variety Club
Telethon events along with artists including Ray Charles and
Mickey Gilley. Suzanne is also the music director of a 35 voice women’s
faith choir and contributes her time to many community events.
With enough energy
to power the lights in a football field Suzanne started off the
year 2001 traversing the globe to pre-promote her CD.
She is kicking off the new year attending MIDEM 2006, a worldwide
music marketing festival on the French Riviera where she will
meet
industry leaders in music from around the globe to develop
relationships in support of the release of her new CD.
She has discovered that there is definitely a market for
country music in the rest of the world.
